What one-syllable word can be transformed into a three-syllable word by adding only one letter?

I agree with FatBoy... (school? who thinks school has anything other than one syllable?)

'Iron' has one syllable.

Merriam-Webster agrees as well.

However, Dictionary.com seems to think it has two syllables.

(Both systems place a bullet between syllables.)
