Cherry, Sand and Grass (Posted on 2005-10-24) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Red, like a cherry, Gold like the sand,
Green like the grass, all over this land.
Pivotal pools two directions they seek,
Strong on deception, with no cover I'm weak.

What am I?

Hints/Tips a swan | Comment 12 of 26 |

I don't have a satisfying answer yet, but just for fun: red, gold, and green are common colors in many national flags of Africa.  The Aswan Dam splits de Nile into two pivotal pools, flowing in different directions.  The Aswan is dam strong on de Nile (denial is sometimes involved in deception) and without the "cover" of the first two letters, Aswan becomes "wan", which is weak...

...as weak as this "solution", perhaps?
