If I sent this message to all of my friends and relatives at a particular time of the year, what would i be tryin to say to them?

"ABCDEFGHIJKMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ"

When I saw this first, I immediately spotted the lack of the letter "L". Which lead me to "No L". And, I thought it may be "Noel". But then I was stumped. It took some googling to find that "Noel" is most commonly associated with Christmas, but I have still not found why this is.

Can anyone explain it to me?
