A man went to a party and drank some of the punch. Late for another appointment, he then left early. Everyone else at the party who drank the punch subsequently died of poisoning.

Why did the man not die?

The poison was in the mushrooms they served at the party, after the punch.

Being a polite bunch of people, they all ate and drank both, except the guy who had to leave early.

The answer could be anything, really.
