A man went to a party and drank some of the punch. Late for another appointment, he then left early. Everyone else at the party who drank the punch subsequently died of poisoning.
The ice or icecream in the punch was poison. Since he drank out of it only before the ice or icecream disolved he was not poisioned, but everyone else was.
