A man went to a party and drank some of the punch. Late for another appointment, he then left early. Everyone else at the party who drank the punch subsequently died of poisoning.

In these sorts of problems, there are many potential solutions, as they are deliberately ambiguous. You are supposed to narrow down the possiblities by asking the poser yes/no questions, until you reach the actual answer.
