Quite a simple problem really:
There exists a word. It begins and ends with the letter 's'.
It's structure is as follows: S, two consonants, a vowel, three consonants, a vowel, two consonants, S.

My favorite, already provided by Penny, is STRONGHOLDS.  This solution is consonant with the hint word "structure" provided in Joe's problem statement.
