You might try to tough out a solution without it, but I think you will find it most practical to start with a particular individual (usually a common sight, but not common in this paragraph.) Go to work on solving this, all you cunning cryptologists!

My failure was thinking that letters were the only possible answer. I will try to remember to look for the unobvious answers when not looking at the obvious things I forget. I think.
