Do not divide! (Posted on 2006-03-18) Difficulty: 3 of 5
(1) If f(x)= ax39x2+bx+12 has x+1 and 2x3 as factors, then find the values of a and b (without using the actual process of Division of Polynomials).

(2) If (x24x+3) is a factor of cx4+dx313x214x+24, then find the values of c and d (without using the actual process of Division of Polynomials).

1) a=2

2) c=1

All I did was use algebra, set missing numbers as variables, and started setting things equal to each other. That's what I got.
