Do not divide! (Posted on 2006-03-18) Difficulty: 3 of 5
(1) If f(x)= ax39x2+bx+12 has x+1 and 2x3 as factors, then find the values of a and b (without using the actual process of Division of Polynomials).

(2) If (x24x+3) is a factor of cx4+dx313x214x+24, then find the values of c and d (without using the actual process of Division of Polynomials).

Is it possible? Comment 7 of 7 |

Can we put values as x=1/2 and the like in the expressions and eqaute the quad expression to 0?Surely, it wouldn't be violating the rule.
