Square = half itself? (Posted on 2006-05-04)

A man had a window a yard square, but it let in too much light. He blocked up half of it. After this he still had a square window a yard high and a yard wide. How did he do it?

This seems right; exactly half covered and still one yard high and wide. Why isn't it accepted?
