I've sat at this riddle for about five minutes and i just need to get this all down for the riddle-solvers. -a little advice maybe someone will need..
The line "I am given an elephant and turn gold" makes me think back to the gold rush at Sutter's Fort. People on their journey were known to be "Seeing the Elephant."
