A case of misguided sheep. (Posted on 2006-06-23) Difficulty: 3 of 5
I am a plateau, holding forty-two sheep.

The sheep are held in six sets of seven. The first, third, fourth, fifth and seventh sheep are black. The remaining two are white.

Someone using me to my full potential can even cause people to cry.

What am I?

This riddle should strike a chord with people with similar interests as me. I write this with plenty of strings attached.

I suppose the plateau could be sheet music, the sheep could be notes on the page.  The sets could be either 6 stanzas of 7 notes each, or one rift of 7 chords:  6 notes per chord.

The second and sixth notes/chords could be held longer in time, so they are open circles and therefore "white".
