At night they come without being fetched,
and by day they are lost without being stolen.

What about Dreams? Doesn't apply to everyone but you usually forget your dreams when you wake up (or most of it) ...so it isn't stolen...And your dreams are said to come unbidden...ok I know it doesn't fit perfectly but it seems more poetic at the very least...!
