A piece of rope is lying on the table. How would you tie a knot in it by picking up its two ends and not letting go of them?

My explanation is to fold your arms, lean to the table, pick up one end of the rope, tilt your body sideways so as to pick up the other end with the other hand (stand erect for comfort's sake) and unfold your arms.

The knot just fall's into place (bit of a party trick).
