You are travelling to point B from point A at a speed of 30mph. You travel back to point A from Point B (taking the same route) at 60mph. What is your average speed?

Just for arguement:  Could I take my average speed as the average of the two values:  (60mph + 30mph)/2 = 45mph?  Can I treat the 30mph and 60mph as two discreet values, like I would 30 miles and 60 miles?

The question at the end of the problem, could also be worded as: What is your average speed during the round trip?  The addition of the word "during" would add the time element, and produce a different answer.

Just quibbling on a Monday morning.
