I want to add, Josie, that I enjoyed this puzzle.  With a little advantage of seeing it in the queue I took to looking up lists of animals and bugs, and with an encoded excel spreadsheet to assist, assembled an answer, two or three for each cryptically encoded creature.  I was a little, but not overly surprised that others must have done the same as there were solutions posted in just a short time after its appearance.

Keep up the good work in puzzle creation.  Your puzzles (and, yes, Charlie's) is a reason I return to this site and try to provide puzzles myself.
