In QuickBasic,

PLAY "l8c a g g d c d c c d e f f g a g c a e a f d c d c c d d e c f"

plays something somewhat reminiscent of God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, but not quite.  That may have something to do with the fact that the default octave in QB extends from a low at C to a high at B. Maybe a hint could be given as to where the octave begins.

The L8 at the beginning sets the notes to 8th notes.

PLAY "abcdefg" plays two high notes then goes down to start the upward climb again, showing what octave QB uses.  There are symbols < and > to raise and lower the octave within the string.
