The Motto (Posted on 2008-04-06) Difficulty: 3 of 5

Everyone: Bill has this bus.

In language long forgotten,

he calls it for us.

From many, unlucky,

is left just the one.

Now nearly quadrupled

but still it's just one.

What kind of bus is it?

E pluribus unum?

The Motto on the United States (us) Dollar bill (Bill) translates (from the long forgotten Latin) into "One Out of Many".  Originally it referred to 13 states forming a single union.  Now the number of states has almost quadrupled to 50, but it's still just one country.
