Crazy math? (Posted on 2008-10-10) Difficulty: 2 of 5
If:

13 + 10 = 24 and
19 - 11 = 7 and
5 x 4 = 29 and
14 / 2 = 4

What is 23 / 5?

Add 1 to both the numbers on the RHS and subtract 1 from the result. This will give ...

13 + 10 = (14 + 10) - 1 = 24
19 - 11 = (20 - 12) - 1 = 7
5 x 4 = (6 * 5) - 1 = 29
14 / 2 = (15 / 3) - 1 = 4

Likewise, 23 / 5 = (24 / 6) - 1 = 3
