K, the Key, is to be moved to contact L, the Latch, so as to move it totally into the grey area.

The object again is to move K to dislodged L. The "tumblers", the numbered blocks, are only to slide in the direction of their respective lengths.

How might you accomplish this?

Note: the black areas are void space.

Solution: (Hide)

In some instances it is irrelevant as to which "tumbler" moves first. Where one is offered such a choice the following notation:
|x|
|y| indicates that either may be the first of a pair to move.

I note 2 general solutions but there is another requiring "7" to be moved twice and thus is not as efficient as either of the following:

|1| |6| |8| |2| 5 |K| 4 7 |9| K 5 3 10 K |1| |6| |8| |2| 5 K 4 |7| |9| K 5 3 10 K
One could legitimately consider the possibility of moving the [1,2], [6,7] and [8,9] in unison when they present as an option if such a mechanism existed in the real world.
