You queried literary information.  Sorry, I know of none.  In a prior comment I mentioned my earlier use of this technique.  The first time I used it (I think) was with Shuffle.  I wanted to emulate twisting a close fitting ring/sleeve around a cylinder.  While I had to present it in HTML as a lineal display Javascript allowed me to create this effect with wraparound.

The Graphics thread in Forums/Reference will offer a little advice on what happened here, but a study of the page source of each problem using "js" will be more beneficial as would a look at some of javascript tutorials.
