Upon seeing Steve's post I reread Stephanies and I now realize my first response was based on a misunderstanding of her post.

It appears to me that Stephanie has an extremely simple solution to this problem without not only calculus, but any kind of equations and as was discussed before could easily be computed in ones head.  Not sure if this is the solution Jer has/had in mind, but I find it hard to imagine that any simpler solution could exist.  Good job Stephanie.
