Maximizing chess moves (Posted on 2009-06-11) Difficulty: 2 of 5
When the 8 chess pieces of one color (pawns excluded) are placed alone on the board in the standard starting position, 51 different moves can be made.

How can these 8 pieces be placed in such a way that the largest number of different moves can be made?

Dej Mar, turning your board 90š ccw, thatīs precisely the solution I have, and it seems that 100 is the maximum number of different moves. Great job.
