I figured I'd take the brute force approach on the last part to see if it was possible to get all seven sums to be the same. My program found 230,016 solutions, one of which is below:

      15  6 11
   14  4  1 13  9
 5  8  7 16 10  3 12

Now to try and figure out the first and second challenges.
