Rise of an object-Physics (Posted on 2003-04-01) Difficulty: 3 of 5
If a 7kg object is thrown straight upwards at a speed of 10m/s(meters per second)

To what height will it rise? note: gravitational constant = -9.8m/s

We first use the formula:
V = U - gT, where U is the initial velocity, V is the final velocity, T is the time of flight of the object and g is the acceleration due to gravity.
Here, V = 0, U = 10 and g = 9.8
So from here we can solve for T and then using the formula:
H = U*T - (1/2)*g*(T^2), we can calculate the required height.
Is it correct ?
