, we were asked to find the property of a line which minimized the area of the triangle it completed. It turned out the given point was the midpoint of the third side. In this problem, I am asking for a ruler and compass construction of that line, given the original angle and point.

I enjoy your proofs. As usual I have no idea how you came up with this construction but I like it.
There is a minor correction to make:
You assumed that W is closer to B than to A. If W is closer to A then U' should be on WA.
