They looked like some kind of font code to me.  I pasted the whole thing into google.  Most of the returns looked meaningless, but the last on the first page was: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KOI8-U

They are character codes.  I can see the answer if I sketch the characters out, but lets see if I can paste them in here:

Looks great! I have no idea why my font is now changed.  brianjn is the expert at that stuff.
