Solution re: Why not? (Spoiler) | Comment 6 of 7 |
(In reply to Why not? by Jyqm)

English (x,y) = (3,1)
11111111111111111111113111
W "double-u" 3 syllables
Y "wye" 1 syllable

French (x,y) = (3,2)
11111111111111111111113121
W "double-v" 3 syllables
Y "i grec" 2 syllables

German (x,y) = (1,3)
11111111111111111111111131
W "veh" 1 syllable
Y "üppsilon" 3 syllables

German may have been avoided as their orthographical alphabet is 30 letters which includes the letters for the vowels ä, ö, and ü and the consonant ß.
