Hi, Tori! (Posted on 2010-12-05) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Tori is working at Booth's communications network, but she needs to turn off some of the transmitters in the grid below. In each row and column, there can only be one transmitter of a specific frequency (1 to 8) left on, and in each row and column no two adjacent transmitters can be turned off. However, the transmitters left on must stay connected horizontally or vertically (diagonally connected doesn't count).

Additionally, the passwords for the networks are "BYPRODUCT, OPERATIVE, OVERINCUR, TWOSTRATI, HYDRONIUM, SO!THANKS". Figure out which transmitters to turn off and use this to spell a message relating to your result. (Additionally, figure which password is Tori's.)

The turned off frequencies when substituted for the equivalent text value of the passwords yield:

Tori's password is TWOSTRATI. The turned off frequencies of the 4th line yield: Tori.
