Who Ordered the Pi? (Posted on 2003-04-21) Difficulty: 4 of 5
What is the next number in this sequence?

1, 4, 9, 16, 25, pi

The sequence is not arbitrary. Create a mathematical function that generates this sequence.

Some Thoughts Word problem??? | Comment 3 of 11 |
OK so p is the 16th letter of the alphabet and i is the 9th, so we have...
1 4 9 16 25 p(=16) i(=9)
then d(=4) and a(=1) would be the last two values of the sequence

I doubt this is what was wanted, but a 'word problem' asking for a mathematical function has left me bemused!
