I don't understand. Are you saying that the sign "/" is missing in the text of (8^3-9)*4?

That formula doesn't have a division and therefore doesn't have a "/". There isn't supposed to be one. The formula itself, as is, without a division, comes out to 2012. It also does not have an addition ("+"), as only 3 diadic operations are possible.

Or is it some other text which you say is missing the "/"? Are you commenting on the puzzle's text using the dot over dot separated by a horizontal line, rather than the virgule?
