John Vignetti cheated on a test by not looking at the answers. If he had looked at the answers, then he would not have been cheating. How?

(There is, I believe, a legend that degrees at a certain university used to be awarded according to how far the theses fell down the stairs when the whole stack was tossed from the landing.)
