What's the number that follows in this sequence, and what is the sequence's significance?

0,1,2,9,44,265,...

well 0+1x2=2
then 1+2x3=9,
then 2+9x4=44
then 9+44x5=265,
therefore 44+265x6=the next number. And if you were to follow this pattern in reverse it would go like this
-1+0x2=1
-2+(-1)x3=9 at which point the pattern alternates between positive and negative numbers.
