Population of Funkytown (Posted on 2013-04-10) Difficulty: 2 of 5
In the city of Funkytown, the following facts are true:

No two inhabitants have exactly the same number of hairs.
No inhabitant has exactly 483,207 hairs.
There are more inhabitants than there are hairs on the head of any one inhabitant.

What is the largest possible number of inhabitants of Funkytown?

Solution re: Getting smarter? Yes, indeed Comment 4 of 4 |
(In reply to Getting smarter? by Steve Herman)

Actually it should be D1,

Even being ignorant of the pigeon principle, one must perceive  that the answer is a function of the number quoted.

Replace it by a small figure,  say 4 and count: 0,1,2,3 ...4 is banned,  so only 4 could be the answer.

Ergo, the largest possible number of inhabitants  is 483,207 (the non-existing quantity, like 4).
