I didn't (try to) knock you down. The point is 3.9 (bar over the 9) exists, because our nomenclature allows it to exist, and we have the facilities/rules to deal with it.
There is a proof that shows why this does equal 4.
Just like .5 (bar over the 5), DOES equal 5/9. Similar proof.
Nothing personal... just seems like a pointless argument.
