and complete the following phrase:

each (-) .... Represents a short missing word.

I tried to complete the phrase using the alphametic letters, without first solving the alphametic.  It turned out to be short work.  I started out focusing on the 2nd and 5th major words, 23470 and 02347.  My first guess was that they were WORDS and SWORD, and this proved to be the case, as all else followed quickly.
