Keys and boxes (Posted on 2014-07-31) Difficulty: 1 of 5
There are four keys of different colors: red, yellow, green, and blue. Each key opens a different box: red, yellow, green, and blue. Here are some clues.

1. No key opens a box of the same color.
2. The red key does not open the yellow box.
3. The green key opens the blue box.

We know that the green key opens the blue box. The red key cannot open the red box because it is the same color. Also, the red key cannot open the yellow box. Therefore, the red key opens the green box. The yellow key cannot open the yellow box, so it opens the red box. That makes the blue key open the yellow box.

red key:green box
yellow key:red box
green key:blue box
blue key:yellow box
