In a word meld, you are given one word to try to change into another, one step at a time. Each step consists of changing one letter of the word into another while still having a common* English word. While it's at the discretion of DJ to confirm the suitability of any words, I would like to challenge the use of "fuze" in an answer. The word only appears in the OED as an archaic spelling of "fuse", and was last seen used in a trade journal in 1895.
