Shortest distance (Posted on 2003-12-10) Difficulty: 3 of 5
What is the shortest distance between two opposite points (two vertices separated by 2R) in the surface of a regular icosahedron? The regular icosahedron's edges are 1ft in length.

Gamer -- what do you mean by this? I understood the question to be asking for the distance on the surface (minimum distance an ant would travel from one to the other crawling on the surface), and answered that. Charlie understood straight line 3d distance and gave his solution.

Did you have another interpretation in mind?
