If you moved the 3 at the end of a certain large number to the beginning, it would be the same as multiplying it by 3. What is the number?

I'm pretty sure I saw this method in a book by Martin Gardner -- but as it was many years ago, and Gardner wrote many books, it's impossible for me to be more specific; sorry!
