I'm so bad at these, but here's a try:

What about a leaf?  They're on a tree in lively green, and then they linger on the trees for a while even though they are brown and dead.

They dance in the breeze (no music) and they don't really breathe in the "inhale through your lungs" way, but they do the whole photosynthesis thing with CO2.

That's probably not it, but I thought I'd try =)

(I was just fixed some spelling errors, that's all =) )
