I’m sitting in a boat in a pool. In the boat with me is a cannonball. What happens to the level of the pool if I take the cannonball out of the boat and drop it into the pool? Does the level increase, decrease or stay the same?

Yes... but that's not the assumption you made!  Go back and read your own post!

And THAT is wrong.

The water density is (approximately if not exactly) 1, the cannonball's density is (significantly) greater than 1, and the water level drops.
