Thousands of us all around you.
We protect you all the time,
Yet you treat us badly...

You burn us in public buildings
to make you seem better;

You try to make us straight,
but most of us refuse usually;

When we are dead, you are pleased.
Yet, when we are gone, you are sad.

What are we?

I thought it was flags at first:


Thousands of us all around you. --(they fly everywhere..symbols)
We protect you all the time, (say that the country is there for us)
Yet you treat us badly... (we spit on em, etc)

You burn us in public buildings (if it touches the ground)
to make you seem better; (cause it is a tradition)

You try to make us straight, (straight in the wind or in like ceremonies)
but most of us refuse usually; (always curl and flap)

When we are dead, you are pleased.(some dictatorship is over, protests)
Yet, when we are gone, you are sad. (you dont have protection anymore)
