Six friends were playing a game of indoor soccer together, but got into a fight during their game. Upset with each other, they decided to position themselves in the (square) 300x300 foot gymnasium so as to maximize the distance between the closest pair. Where should they each stand?
I found this puzzle and the corresponding possible solutions posted to be quite interesting. I agree that the star shape with one person in the middle appears to be the best possible answer. I would like to work out the distances, but I'm a few too many years removed from geometry
