It was logical that four asian countries (Japan, Korea, Laos and Malaysia) should be the judo finalists, but I couldn’t learn the relative standings.

A reporter told me “Laos won silver, and/or Malaysia won bronze.” Other reporter added “Japan won gold, and/or Korea won bronze.” A third one added “Laos won gold, and/or Japan won silver.”

I couldn’t make heads or tails out of this, until I remembered that in judo, two bronze medals are awarded. Which were the standings?

...That'll be the day Laos finishes ahead of Japan in the Judo competition.

I get the same answer: Laos (Gold), Japan (Silver), Malaysia (Bronze), Korea (Bronze) These are the only standings that are compatible with the three reporters. (By the way, the Japanese sport of Judo is considered unpatriotic in Korea. Koreans have Tae Kwon Do. No Korean would be caught dead in a Judo competition.) This is the first I've heard that there are two bronze medals in Judo. That's funny. If they really want to avoid hurt feelings, just give all of the competitors bronze medals and be done with it. As for those three reporters with all their and/or's, those guys must work for Fox News.
