I've a chessboard of side 80cm.
You've a coin of diameter 2cm, and you throw it on to the chessboard. The center of the coin falls somewhere on the chessboard.
What is the likelihood that the coin is completely within a white square?
edit : these calculations aren't crude... they are faulty... i realised this after reading nikki's solution
The coin will need an area of 4 sq.cm... and each cell on the chess board is 100 sq.cm... So the chance that the coin is completely within any cell is 4%
So the probablity of the coin being completely within a white cell is 2%
