Take a square and cut it as you wish into a finite number of pieces. Rearrange the pieces without rotating or flipping any of them to form an new square that is rotated 45-degrees compared to the
original.
I'm wondering if it is possible at all.
Didn't some ancient Greek guy get thrown out of a boat for demonstrating that the diagonal of a square is not expessable as a ratio of its side.
This would seem to imply that without an infinite number of cuts, this can't be done.
