A man went to a party and drank some of the punch. Late for another appointment, he then left early. Everyone else at the party who drank the punch subsequently died of poisoning.
the poison was in the ice in the punch, and wasn't released into the punch until said ice melted. the man was there before the ice melted, and everyone else was there after.
