You have two identical looking metal bars. One of them is a magnet, with North and South ends. The other is simply an iron bar (which is attracted by magnets).
How can you tell which is which, using only these two bars?
I hesitate to chide a man who can break iron bars in his hands, as you can, but wouldn't the mere fact that any repelling was going on, prove that one bar had magnetized the other ? And so the first bar must have been the magnetic one.
(The REPLY TO function seems to be disabled, so I had to post this as an independent post).
